From February 5 to 6, 2026 we invite you to join the online International Seminar titled “Tides of Connections and Tensions. Revisiting the Indian Ocean and Red Sea as Spaces of Historical Entanglement.”
This virtual event, co-organized by the Dept. of International Studies, Political Science, and History at CHRIST University (India), the Dept. of Historical Studies at the University of Turin (Italy), and the ERC-2023-COG REDMIX project, will delve into the complex historical and geopolitical dynamics of two crucial maritime regions.
The seminar aims to move beyond traditional narratives, exploring these waters not just as passive backdrops but as active “spaces of historical entanglement.” Discussions will focus on the flows of people, goods, ideas, and power that have created intricate networks of connection and contestation over centuries.
