We are glad to share news of an upcoming cultural event, which will take place in Gaeta (LT) on Saturday, May 16, 2026, and seeks to bring back to collective memory a significant yet often overlooked part of local history: the story of the Gaeta refugee camp. Curated by Tiziana Pasciuto from the University of Turin, this initiative recalls a place that once welcomed thousands of people — some simply passing through toward other destinations, others hoping to find stability right here in this very territory.
The event, titled “Rotte condivise: memorie migranti nel golfo di Gaeta,” is designed as a living narrative, one that restores both humanity and complexity to a chapter that mattered not only locally but also nationally.
The programme unfolds over the course of a morning and is divided into two parts.
The first part begins at 9:00 AM at the Port of Formia, where participants will board a boat headed to Gaeta. The boat is expected to dock at Gaeta’s Molo Sanità around 10:30 AM. Please note that places are limited and a reservation is required via QR code or via link here.
The second part begins at 11:00 AM at the Tensostruttura on Molo Sanità, with free admission subject to available seating. The seminar is organised by the University of Turin together with ITS Academy Caboto.
