Four members of the REDMIX Project team will actively take part in the VIII biennial conference of the Associazione per gli Studi Africani in Italia (ASAI), titled “Acque d’Africa. Flussi, destini e contesti” | “Africa and Its Waters: Flows, Fates and Frameworks”, hosted by the University of Pavia from 1 to 3 July 2026.
The following papers will be presented:
- – “Anchoring in a New Rud(Khāneh): Iranian-Arab Mixing and Mixedness in the Red Sea Region (19th and 20th Centuries)” by Sara Zanotta
- – “Mixity, Mixedness, and Sociability in Aden during the Interwar Period (1918–1939)” by Adnen el Ghali
- – “Devozioni sommerse: la digitalizzazione degli ex voto coloniali tra visibilità frammentata e flussi di memoria” by Tiziana Pasciuto
The project PI Valentina Fusari will also be actively involved in the conference in her capacity as ASAI Vice-President, serving as panelist, convenor, and discussant across multiple panels.
